The 2022 season got underway in wet and blustery conditions in Grangegodden against Gaeil Colmcille.

With the aid of the strong wind, the hosts got off to a strong start, firing over 3 points in the opening 3 minutes, before Curraha had settled into the game. The opening exchanges were littered with errors, as both teams struggled to adapt to the conditions. Conor O'Farrell registered Curraha's first score, breaking forward from wing back to fire over in the 10th minute.

The Kells outfit were awarded a penalty in the 12th minute, which was brilliantly saved by Liam Hogan. Curraha immediately broke down field and almost found the back of the net themselves, with Conor Moriarty drawing a fine save from the keeper.

The hosts added on another 3 points over the following 10 minutes, before a great mark from Conor Moriarty led to a fine point in the 25th minute. Gaeil Colmcille responded with another point before the break, to leave them ahead at half-time, 1-07 to 0-2.

With conditions worsening further in the 2nd half, both sides struggled to create many opportunities in what became a scrappy affair. Curraha did manage to get two early scores with a Sean Keogh free followed by a point from play by Conor Moriarty. Niall Murphy scored a great long range point off his left foot in the 25h minute to complete the scoring for the 'Ha, but Gaeil Colmcille were deserved winners on the day.
